I was up early to process the orders and answer WhatsApp questions from customers. It was great that many of you had requested advice and we are always happy to answer questions about Koi. Please keep the questions coming.

Our ninth day was supposed to commence with harvest selection at two farms. Unfortunately the heavy rain on Saturday meant the farmers had not harvested as expected we therefore had to rearrange our schedule.

We selected a jumbo body, Benigoi at Yamanaka Oya then decided to drive for an hour or so to visit Sekiguchi and Kobayashi.

We found a nice Shiro Utsuri and very unusual jumbo Gin Rin Kin Kabuto (this koi will really grow)  at Kobayashi but unfortunately no suitable Arogoke were available. We then moved on the Sekiguchi which is a stunning Showa Farm. We selected some lovely Showa before making our way back to Yamakoshi.

After several visits, our persistence paid off and we finally came to an agreement on price with Nagashima, and selected Nisai Showa from his famous Momotaro x Nageshima bloodline (see tomorrows email/post) We also completed the small koi purchases from his main fish house.

We have a busy day planned tomorrow and hope that we are able to purchase many more high-quality koi in our last few days in Niigata.

I strongly recommend if you see a Koi that you like - reserve it ! As we are now at the stage where customers are making final decisions and the number of koi that are already sold drastically increases. So reserve quickly to avoid disappointment.
