Hoshikin Koi Farm

Located in Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture, the birthplace of Nishikigoi, Hoshikin Koi Farm is one of Japan’s most prestigious and historic koi breeders. Established in 1984 by Katsuyuki Hoshino, and building on more than 70 years of family heritage, Hoshikin has become world-famous for producing some of the finest Kohaku koi and Showa koi available today.

With a raising area of around 100,000 m², Hoshikin Koi Farm breeds approximately 3 million fry each year. From this, only the very best are carefully selected through multiple rounds of culling, leaving around 1,000 champion-quality koi to be released annually. This strict process ensures the consistency and excellence of the iconic Hoshikin Kohaku bloodline, a strain renowned for its vibrant red (hi), snow-white (shiroji), and impressive growth potential.

Hoshikin gained international recognition when one of their Kohaku won Grand Champion at the All Japan Koi Show in 1998, cementing their status as a leading force in Japanese koi breeding. Today, Hoshikin Kohaku remain highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide who are looking for premium Japanese Kohaku koi for sale.

For anyone seeking koi of outstanding beauty, size, and lineage, Hoshikin Koi Farm represents the very best of Niigata’s koi breeding tradition.
