The Ai Goromo and Budo Goromo are two stunning varieties of Japanese koi, admired for their intricate and distinctive patterns. Translating to “robed,” Goromo koi feature overlapping net-like patterns over a white base. While similar, the Ai Goromo and Budo Goromo have unique traits that make them favourites among collectors.
Ai Goromo
The Ai Goromo, or “indigo robed,” is characterised by a white body with red patterns that have a subtle overlay of indigo or blue reticulation. This delicate net-like effect appears as if the red markings are draped in a fine indigo robe, creating a graceful and refined appearance.
Key features of Ai Goromo include:
1. Shiroji (White Base): The white base is clean and luminous, enhancing the koi’s elegance.
2. Hi (Red Markings): The red patterns are bright and well-defined, forming the foundation for the indigo overlay.

Budo Goromo
